Obituary

Kenneth R. Knappenberger, 89, of Walnutport, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2026 in his home, surrounded by his family. He and his wife, Bernice C. (Strohl) Knappenberger, shared 63 years of marriage.

Born in Walnutport, he was a son of the late Wilson and Dorothy (Greenzweig) Knappenberger. Ken served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force. He worked as a machinist and inspector at Bethlehem Steel for more than 30 years. Ken was a member of Christ UCC in Walnutport and a former member of the Walnutport VFW Post 7215. Ken was a coin collector, enjoyed the Iron Pigs and Phillies and was an avid Penn State Football fan. His highest accolade was being known as the best Dad, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather, who always loved playing with the kids and attending all of their sporting events.

Survivors: His loving wife, Bernice; Daughters, Trudy Marques and her husband Tom of Walnutport, Lisa Knappenberger of Walnutport and Jennifer Deibert and her husband Eric of Slatington; sister, Carol Sidor of Easton; brother, Allen Knappenberger of Slatington; 5 grandchildren, Dale (Dina), Cory (Kevin), Cameron, Austin and Tucker; 4 great-grandchildren, Grace, Ben, Kinsley and Connor. Ken was also preceded in death by 7 siblings, Harold, Eleanor, Joyce, Annabelle, Stephen, Richard and Donald.

Services: There will be no services at Ken’s request. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harding Funeral Home, Inc. of Slatington.
