November 11, 1927 — July 1, 2009

James E. Shelly

James E. Shelly, 81, of Lehigh Township, passed away July 1, 2009, in Lehigh Valley Hospital Center, Salisbury Twp. Born November 11, 1927 in Bowmanstown, he was the son of the late Earl & Lucy (Hontz) Shelly. He was predeceased by his wife Louise in 2005. We take comfort in knowing that he is reunited in death with Louise. They shared a love for each other that lasted 57 admiral years. They are together again and their great love for each other shines down on their family and friends here on earth. Jim was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Indianland. He was a dedicated worker for the Keystone Lamp Factory in Slatington for 39 years until he retired in 1989. He served our country in the US Army through two tours of active duty in Europe after World War II. Jim was a proud father to 5 children, 7 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren, all whom loved him deeply. He enjoyed spending time with his family and seeing his children and grandchildren grow. The Shelly family didn't lose a father, grandfather or great grandfather, they lost a great friend.

Survivors: Sons, Terry and his wife Susan Shelly, Robert and his wife Bonita Shelly, all of Slatington and Richard and his wife Susan of Walnutport , daughters, Sandra and her husband Robert Nikisher of Walnutport and Rita and her husband Arnold Reph of Danielsville, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
