John C. Szoke, 87 of Slatington died Saturday April 6, 2013 in his home. He was the husband of Doris L. (Sheckler) Szoke, they celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary last May. Born in Berlinsville, he was the son of the late Paul and Eva (Polak) Szoke. He served in the US Army during WWII. John worked as a laborer and truck driver for Roth & Ellis for 40 years. He was a 50 year member of the laborer's union, and a member of the American Legion Post 16, Slatington. John was a member of St. John's UCC, Slatington.
Survivors: Wife, Sons; John Szoke, Jr. and wife Sue of FL, Larry Szoke and wife Yvonne and Jeffrey Szoke both of Slatington. Grandchildren; Jason, Shawn, Jeremy, Adrienne, Michael, Brandon, Chris, Heather. Great Grandchildren; Brielle, Ashton, and Addisyn. Brothers; Frank, Stephen, James, Louis, and Ernest Szoke. Sisters; Rose Bucher, Betty Jensen. Nieces & Nephews. He was predeceased by siblings Paul, Joseph, Charles, Michael, and Alex Szoke, and Mary Kun.
Services: 11 am Wednesday April 10, 2013 St John's UCC 15 S. 2nd St, Slatington. Calling hours Tuesday April 9 6-8PM Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second St, Slatington and 10-11AM Wednesday at the church. Interment to follow with Military Honors at Union Cemetery, Slatington.

Although I am not able to be with you all tonight you are in my thoughts. I have wonderful memories of our family visiting your house and your camp when I was a child. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
