John Vernon

John E. Vernon, 69 of Slatington died February 27, 2016 surrounded by his loved ones. John was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all those who knew him. He was the husband of Lori A. (West) Vernon; they were married July 4th, 1983. Born in Ottawa, ONT, he was the son of the late W.H. Dalton and Jean O. (Bradd) Vernon. John earned his BA in Mathematics from Doan College in Crete, NE. He began working for ALPO Crete in 1969. In 1991 he transferred to ALPO Corporate (Nestle Corp.) and worked as an Environmental Engineer until his retirement after 38 years. He later worked for Hatfield and JBS in Lansdale until 2013. John was a District XI PIAA swimming and diving official for 18 years. He was also active with the Northern Lehigh Swim Team and Suburban Swim League.

Survivors: Wife, Children; Mark E. Vernon (Sam, Kelsey, Dalton), Peter M.W. Vernon (Andrea, Rory), Eric A.W. Vernon (Emily, Evan, Owen), Ian K.W. Vernon (Shilo), Blaine M.W. Vernon, and Megan K.W. Vernon. Sister-in-law: Gweneth and Jolene West. He was pre-deceased by his brother David Vernon.

Services: A celebration of life will be held in the spring and be announced at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Harding Funeral Home, Slatington.
Contributions: Can be made to the funeral home for a future swim scholarship to benefit a District XI swimmer from a Non Participating High School.
