Richard Mantz

Richard C. Mantz, 60 of Slatington passed away Monday July 11, 2016 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Twp. He was the husband of Ruthann (Davies) Mantz; they celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary last October. Born in Northampton, he was the son of Shirley L. (Evans) Mantz of Slatington, and the late Charles H. Mantz, Jr. Following his high school graduation, Rich began working with his father in the family business, Charles H. Mantz, Inc., and after his father’s death in 1990, took over and was currently the owner/operator of the business. Rich was an assistant coach for the Northern Lehigh Boys Basketball team from 2000-2013, during which the team won league titles in 2007, 2008, and 2010 and a district title in 2008. He was currently serving as board member of the Slatington Skeet Club, and treasurer of the Slatington Open golf tournament.
Survivors: Wife, Son; Michael C. Mantz of Philadelphia. Sisters; Candyce Merkle of Slatington, Linda Jo and husband Gary Hallas of Palmerton. Niece; Sara and husband Jamie Abraham. Grea Nephew/Godson; Jacob Mankos.
Services: 7pm Friday July 15, 2016 St. John’s Lutheran Church, 40 S. Second St, Slatington. Calling hour 5:30 -7 PM at the church. Arrangements are under the care of Harding Funeral Home, Slatington.
