Robert F. Day, Jr. 87 of Danielsville passed away Friday February 24, 2017. He was the husband of Shirley J. (Fritz) Day; they celebrated 56 years last October. Born in Northampton, he was the son of the late Robert F. Sr, and Marie (Lerch) Day. Robert was a staff sergeant in the US Army Air Force during the Korean War. He worked for PP & L for 34 years as an electrical repairman leader. Robert was a member of St. John’s UCC, Slatington, and was formerly active on church consistory. He was a life time member of the Roosevelt Democratic Club, Danielsville, a 50 year member of the American Legion Post 16, Slatington, and a 35 year member of the Lehigh Township Lions Club and was a recipient of the Melvin Jones Award. Robert was also a member of the Lehigh Township Municipal Authority for 22 years, and a member of the Walnutport Senior Citizens. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Nascar, and raced at the Mahoning and Nazareth Speedways.
Survivors: Wife, Sons; Robert A. Day of Danielsville, Thomas A. Day and wife Michele (Fluck) of Danielsville. Grandsons; Connor Day & Colton Burkhardt. Brothers; William Day and wife Annabelle of Nazareth, Galen Day and wife Natalie of AZ. Sister; Elaine wife of the late William Horwith of Northampton. He was pre-deceased by a brother Dale Day, and a sister Louise Day.
Services: 11am Saturday March 11, 2017 at St. John’s UCC, 15 S. 2nd St, Slatington. Calling hour 10-11am. Arrangements Harding Funeral Home, Slatington.
