Alfred P. Walton of Tinton Falls, NJ, formerly of Northampton, PA, passed away on June 14, 2021. He was 85 years old. He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Mary Ellen, in 2008. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Kevin Gould, grandchildren and their spouses Lauren and Aaron Semanski and Matthew and Katie Gould and great-grandchildren Teague, Dan, and Jack Gould, sister Lorraine Gonda and many nieces and nephews.
Al grew up in Hazleton, PA and graduated from Hazleton High School in 1953. After high school he worked at Northeastern National Bank, then became a Bank Examiner for the U.S Treasury Department before accepting positions back in local banks and finally at Consumer Credit Counselling Services. He became a licensed pastor in the Penn Northeast Conference of the United Church of Christ and served several churches before retiring in 2016.
The hallmark of Al’s life was service. He was a basketball coach for DeMolay, a band parent, a member of the Nazareth Lions club, and served in many ways at the churches of which he was a member over the years. He was also a proud member of the Army reserve from 1955 to 1961.
A memorial service celebrating Al’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on May 21, 2022, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ of Indianland, 787 Almond Road, Walnutport, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the church.
