Alma Semmel

January 17, 1926 — February 7, 2021

Alma M. Semmel, 95, formerly of Slatington passed away Sunday, February 7, 2021 at the Phoebe Home, Allentown.   She was the wife of the late Francis P. Semmel.   Born in Slatington on January 17, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Stella (Dilliard) Roth.  Alma was a long-time member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Slatington.  She worked at various factories in the area and also as a presser & cleaner for the former Kern’s Cleaners in Slatington.   Alma enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and friends.    She enjoyed ceramics, sewing & embroidery, gardening and cooking/baking.  Alma was well known for her homemade donuts and cinnamon buns.  She was an active leader of the 4-H Club and was a member of the Parkland Garden Club.

She is survived by three daughters: Fianna S. and husband Ray G. Christman of Slatington, Lydia M. and husband Ray W. Weaver of Emmaus, Janice I. and husband William R. Lentz of Schnecksville; grandchildren: Ryan Christman and wife Jennifer, Megan and husband Chris Pascoe.   She was predeceased by siblings Maurice Roth and Edna Turoscy.

Private family services will be held.  Arrangements are being handled by Harding Funeral Home, Slatington.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Alma’s memory may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church Sunday School, 40 S. Second Street, Slatington PA 18080
