Alta C. Shafer

Alta C. Shafer, 64, of Slatington, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023, in her home.   She was the wife of Frank S. Shafer, whom she married September 8, 1986.    Born in Peekskill, NY on November 12, 1958, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Muriel (Lubengeiger) Travis.    Alta worked as a registered nurse for Lehigh Valley Health Network for 15 years.    She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Slatington and was instrumental in the publication of the church history book.   Alta also enjoyed being a member and volunteering for the MS Society.
In addition to her husband, she will be lovingly remembered by a daughter: Erika and husband Thomas Krock of Effort; grandchildren: Austin & Brianna; brother: John Travis of NY.
A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second Street, Slatington.   Family and friends may visit with the family from 10 to 11AM.
