Arthur Kistler

Arthur L. “Ted” Kistler, 73 of Slatington died Sunday July 31, 2016 in the home of his companion Linda Olewine, surrounded by family and friends. He was the husband of Linda L. (Yenser) Kistler. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Pearl Kistler. Ted served in the US Army for 6 ½ years, stationed in Germany. Upon his discharge from the Army, Ted returned to Slatington and joined the police force, where he would eventually serve as chief for 28 years. Ted was an active member of the Slatington Lions Club, served as their past president in 1983-1984, District 14-K zone chairman, car show chairman for 25 years, bulletin editor, Lion of the Year, and received the Melvin Jones Award. He was a 50year member of the American Legion Post, 16, served on their Board of Directors, and a former 1st Commander. Ted was also a member of the Walnutport VFW, the Slatington Skeet Club, and was currently serving as president of the Northern Lehigh Historical Society.
Survivors: Wife, Sons; Ted E. Kistler of Slatington, Jeffrey W. Kistler of Slatington. Grandchildren; Ted, Kristin, Michael, Katelyn, and Brandon. He was pre-deceased by his former wife Roseann (Kern) Kistler, and son Stephen Kistler.
Services: 1pm Friday August 5, 2016 Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second St, Slatington. Family and friends may call from 11am-1pm. Interment with military honors to follow at Union Cemetery, Slatington.
