Carol M. (Roderick) MacCrindle, 95, formerly of Slatington, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2026, surrounded by her family at Phoebe Home in Allentown. She was the beloved wife of the late Douglas M. MacCrindle with whom she shared 61 years of marriage before his passing in August of 2017. Born in Slatington, she was the loving daughter of the late David and Elsie (Remaley) Roderick.
Carol graduated from Slatington High School in 1949. She continued her education at St. Luke’s School of Nursing, graduating in 1952. She worked throughout her career as a registered nurse, serving as a visiting nurse and a school nurse, then worked at Dr. Sally Ann Rex and Young Ideas Day School, both in Slatington.
She was also deeply involved in her community: a Girl Scout leader; past president of the Slatington Woman’s Club; an active member of the Slatington Library’s book club; and a devoted member of her church, where she sang in the choir and was a longtime volunteer at the Second Chance Shop, among many other church activities.
She found great joy in reading, knitting, and watching old movies. She especially loved accompanying her husband to Scottish festivals and other Scottish-related events, sharing in his interests and creating treasured memories together. She was exceptionally proud of her Welsh heritage. Above all else, she cherished her family. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a doting grandmother whose love and kindness touched everyone around her. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
Carol will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Megan and husband Jody Bellesfield of Palmerton, Heather and husband Brian Zimmerman of Edinboro, PA; grandchildren: Egan Bellesfield, Andrew Zimmerman and wife Alexandra, and two nieces, Donna Grimes and Kathy Miller. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Donald & Marvin Roderick, and sister, Leatrice Rehrig.
A memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, July 10th at Harding Funeral Home, 25-27. N. 2nd St., Slatington, PA 18080. Burial will follow services at Union Cemetery in Slatington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Sunday School/Music Fund or St. Luke’s School of Nursing c/o the funeral home. Harding Funeral Home of Slatington is honored to be handling Carol’s arrangements.
