Diane M. Reitz, 79, of Slatington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospice in Allentown. She was the wife of the late Arthur R. “Artie” Reitz, Jr. for 46 years before his passing in March of 2010. Born in Slatington, on July 4, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Allen H. and Ruth M. (Dieter) Peters.
Diane worked at various garment factories throughout the area and then after many years of service at Fellowship Manor in Whitehall, she retired. She was a member of Good Shepherd United Church of Christ in Slatington. She found great joy in volunteering at the Second Chance Shoppe in Slatington.
Above all else, Diane cherished her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She enjoyed cheering on the boys at their sporting events and band concerts. “Sister Tuesday” was a highlight of her week. She will be deeply missed by all who have had the privilege of knowing and loving her, and her memory will be treasured always.
Diane will be lovingly remembered by her three children, Debra Diane, wife of Lewis E. Rauch II of Schnecksville, Randy Raymond Reitz and wife Kimberly Ann of Slatington, Stacy Lynn, wife of Matthew P. Daniels of Orefield; four grandsons, Jared Reitz and wife, Taylor, Gage Christ, Joshua Daniels, and Connor Daniels; two great-grandchildren, Rylan and Luka; four siblings, Carol Schweitzer, Janice Schwartz, Laurie Peters Beers, and Barry Peters; Sister-in-law Diane Peters, brother-in-law Mark Stauffer and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband Artie, she was predeceased by her brother Richard Peters and sister-in-law Carla Stauffer.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. 2nd St., Slatington, PA 18080. Friends and family may pay their respects at the funeral home from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Slatedale Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Diane’s memory to the Northern Lehigh Food Bank and sent to 7884 Center St., Emerald, PA 18080. Harding Funeral Home of Slatington is honored to be entrusted with Diane’s arrangements.
