Donna L. Muth

Donna Lavon (Meckes) Muth, 90, of Walnutport, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023, in her home.   She was the wife of the late Paul J. Muth, who passed away in 2012.    Born in Bowmanstown on August 11, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Francis C. and Lorena P. (Bowman) Meckes.  

 Donna received a BS in Elementary Education from Kutztown State College in 1955, and taught in the Allentown & Northampton Area School Districts before transitioning to parochial school teaching.   Following her teaching career, she and her husband owned & operated Muth Disposal Service in Palm, PA, for 31 years.  

Donna was a charter member of the Walnutport Seventh-day Adventist Church, Rt 145, Walnutport, PA, and served as a teacher in various children’s divisions, as well as conducted Vacation Bible School Programs for many years.   She also served as Head Deaconess, Adult Sabbath School Teacher, and Sabbath School Superintendent.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Karen A. (Muth) Wandell (Mark) of Hamburg, PA, David P. Muth of Walnutport, PA, Lisa A. (Muth) Stenhouse (David) of Pittsboro, NC; sister: Bonnie G. (Meckes) Schwartz (Thomas) of Northampton, PA; brothers-in-law: Larry L. Lentz, Thomas W. Schwartz, and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a sister, Dolores L. Lentz.

A graveside service will be held at 11AM, on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Union Cemetery, PA Rte 873, Slatington.   No public calling hours.    Arrangements are being handled by Harding Funeral Home, Slatington.   In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Adventist World Radio, 12501 Old Columbia Pike, Silver Spring, MD 20904, https://awr.org/support/, or charity of one’s choice.
