Doris Szoke

Doris L. Szoke, 89 of Slatington passed away Friday December 22, 2017 in Mahoning Valley Nursing & Rehab Center, Lehighton.  She was the wife of the late John C. Szoke, who died in 2013.  Born in Slatington, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Pauline (Yenser) Sheckler.  Doris worked as a head cook for Slatington Jr. High School, retiring in 1982.  Prior to that, she worked briefly for Mack Trucks.   She was a lifelong member of St. John’s UCC, Slatington.
Survivors:  Sons: Larry Szoke and wife Yvonne and Jeffrey Szoke both of Slatington; Grandchildren; Jason, Shawn, Jeremy, Adrienne, Michael, Brandon, Chris, Heather.  Great Grandchildren; Brielle, Ashton, and Addisyn, Michael, Killian;   Nieces, Nephews and cousins.  She was pre-deceased by a son John Jr., and brothers Harold and Robert Sheckler Jr.
Services:  11am Thursday December 28, 2017 at St. John’s UCC, 15 S. 2nd St, Slatington.  Calling hour 10-11am at the church.  Interment to follow at Union Cemetery, Slatington.
Arrangements are being handled by Harding Funeral Home, Slatington.
