Edmund L. “Utch” Chandler, 89, of Orefield, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2021, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. He was the husband of Carol A. (Reinbold) Chandler, whom he married on October 17, 1959. Born in Slatington, he was the son of the late Paul R. and Catherine M. (Scott) Chandler. A graduate of Slatington High School Class of 1949, Edmund played baseball, basketball, and football. He then served his country honorably and proudly as a member of the US Army during the Korean War. Edmund was employed by PP&L for 34 years as an underground repairman. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Orefield, and a member of the American Legion Post 16, Slatington and the Slatington Skeet Club. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, bowling, but especially spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife Carol, he is survived by daughters: Victoria and husband Roderick Smith of Allentown, Danette and husband Dale Weidner of Allentown; son: David Chandler and wife Karen of Kutztown; grandchildren: Wendy, Nicholas, Cody, Danica; brothers: Joseph Chandler and wife Pat of Slatington, Eugene Chandler and wife LeAnn of Northampton, Denis Chandler and wife Florence of Walnutport; sisters: Veronica DeFuso of Macungie, Mary wife of LaMont Raub of Palmerton. He was pre-deceased by siblings Joan Wieand, Albert, Jon ‘Jack” and Paul Chandler.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10:30AM on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 1879 Applewood Dr, Orefield PA 18069. Family and friends may pay their respects from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name can be made to the St Joseph the Worker Memorial Fund. Arrangements are under the care of Harding Funeral Home, Slatington.
