Edna A. Nicholas

Edna A. Nicholas, 83, formerly of Walnutport, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg Campus. She was the wife of the late Conrad L. Nicholas, who passed away in 2012. Born in Allentown on June 1, 1942, she was the daughter of the late John and Catharine (Grammes) Hvazda. She was a graduate and member of the National Honor Society & Chorus & Vespers of the Northampton Area High School Class of 1960. Edna worked for the former Howitt Optical Company in Allentown, a business owned by her father. Along with her late husband, she was also the owner / operator of Ahwa Vista Flowers & Landscaping in Walnutport.

Edna will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Cindy A. and husband John H. Lacey of Allentown, Crystal L. Nicholas and husband Anthony J. Shostak of Greene, Maine; 2 grandchildren, Oskar N. Shostak, Una I. Shostak; sister, Rosemary C. and husband William H. Muffley of Statesville, NC; nieces & nephews, Gregory Hvazda, Marjorie Haley, Richard Hvazda, Sabrina Muffley and their families as well as many friends. She was pre-deceased by her brother, Melvyn C. Hvazda in 2021.

A funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. 2nd Street, Slatington. Family and friends may pay their respects from 10 to 11am. Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Slatington. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to an animal shelter of one’s choice.
