A candle was lit in memory of Eric Smith

Somewhere there’s an old Polaroid that our grandmother took when Eric was about 4 years old. Stacy has his hand across Eric’s chest trying to hold him still, but he’s squirming like heck trying to get away. And at the moment the photo is shot, Eric is looking into the camera with the biggest smile and expression of unbridled joy. It may sound funny given how much he grew in these four decades since, but that image is still my mental avatar of him: the purest form of the kid I knew.

Such an amazing guy. Loved working with Eric and golfing with him. Always good for a laugh and a good conversation. He will be greatly missed.

I had the pleasure of meeting Eric through work. He was always happy, did his job, and made work fun. I was fortunate to stay in touch after we didn’t work together. He always cared how you were doing, and was genuine about it. You will be missed my friend.
