Fred Koran, 94, of Walnutport, passed away February 20, 2014 at Lehigh Valley Hospital Center, Salisbury Twp. He was the husband of the late Arlene L. Koran, who passed away in 2012. Born in Palmerton, he was the son of the late Jacob and Mary (Lapota) Koran. Fred served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII and was stationed in China, Burma and India as part of the Flying Tigers. Fred retired from Mack Trucks as plant foreman. Also, he was the owner/operator of Koran Excavating and Perfectrun Kennels. He was a founding member and helped build the Slatington Skeet Club, and served as past president and treasurer. He was also a member of Ontelaunee Rod & Gun, Club, the American Legion Post 16 Slatington, Diamond Fire Co., East Penn Sporting Assoc, Blue Ridge Rod & Gun Club and the Rural Sportsman Assoc.

Survivors: Son, Alex Koran & wife Gina of Walnutport. Daughters, Linda Schantz of Bethlehem, Eileen Bond of Cherryville, eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and one great great grandson. Brothers; William & Arthur Koran. He was pre-deceased by brothers Nicholas and Alex Koran

Services: 11:00am, Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Harding Funeral Home 25-27 N. Second Street, Slatington. Calling Hour, 6-8PM Monday February 24 at the funeral home.. Interment will be private at Union Cemetery Slatington, PA.
