Grace L. Knappenberger, 84, of Walnutport passed away Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. She was the wife of the late Stanley A. Knappenberger, who passed away in 2008. Born in Danielsville on April 16, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Clayton Henry and Jane “Jennie” (Roberts) Henry- Kirchner. Grace’s working years started at various sewing factories. She then was a secretary/ bookkeeper for the family business’, SA Knappenberger & JP Hauling. Grace also sold Avon products for the last 30 years and held the highest honors of President’s Club. She was a faithful member of Hope Lutheran Church, Cherryville. Grace participated in several bowling leagues including local, state and national tournaments each year. She greatly enjoyed playing bingo, cheering on the Phillies and her weekly visits to the casinos. Grace was a giving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who made sure her family had the opportunity to pursue adventure by snowmobiling, camping, boating, water skiing and snow skiing. She was known for her witty, kind and competitive nature and was seen at her children’s and grandchildren’s games. She was their biggest fan.
She is survived by daughters: Juanita Benner of Walnutport, Roxanne and husband Dennis Marunich of Slatington; grandchildren: Vicki A. Bonser, Tracy L. O’Donnell, Payton R. Marunich, Jacob M. Marunich; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters: Mae and husband Daniel Freed, Doris Joler, both of Slatington. Numerous nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by a son Del L. Hahn and siblings Clarence Reph, Allen Henry, Kenneth Henry, Donald Henry, Harold Henry, Stephen Kirchner, John Kirchner, Paul Kirchner, William Kirchner.
A funeral service will be held outdoors in the parking lot of Hope Lutheran Church on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 11AM. Those attending will remain in their cars with live broadcast played through your car radio. A walk through viewing will be held from 6 to 8PM on Friday, February 5, 2021 at Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second Street, Slatington. No calling hours on Saturday. In honor of Grace’s favorite color, the family asks those attending to please wear something red. Interment will follow service on Saturday at Indianland Cemetery, Cherryville. In lieu of flowers, contribution’s in Grace’s name can be made to Hope Lutheran Church or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 3 International Drive, suite 200, Rye Brook, NY 10573
