Harvey Kern

Harvey J. “Pepper” Kern, 88, formerly of Walnutport, passed away August 6, 2015 at Manor Care, Bethlehem. Born in Walnutport, he was the son of the late Frank A. & Lillian A. (Heiney) Kern. Harvey worked for Fritzinger Bakery, Blue Ridge Knitting Mill, Navatere Egg Farm, Roger’s Auto Parts and Gogles Auto Parts. He was a WWII US Navy Veteran. Pepper participated in the Senior Group at Hope Lutheran Church, Cherryville. An airplane enthusiast, he often spent his afternoons visiting local airports.
Survivors: Sister; Marian Peters of Allentown. Sister-in-law; Shirley Kern of Walnutport. Nieces & Nephews. He was pre-deceased by brothers Calvin and Herbie Kern, and sister Ellen Scheetz.
Services: 11:00 AM Tuesday August 11 2015 at Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second St., Slatington.
Calling hour from 10-11:00am at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Union Cemetery, Slatington.
