James A. Ruch 86, formerly of Walnutport, currently residing in Kunkletown, went home to find peace in the arms of the Lord on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus. He was the beloved husband of Rita L. (Kern) Ruch with whom he shared 61 beautiful years of marriage, celebrating their anniversary this past March 13th. Born in Allentown, he was one of ten children born to the late Walter and Gertrude (Fogel) Ruch.
Jim was a member of the Palmerton High School graduating class of 1957. He went on to honorably serve his country in the United States Army, where he was stationed in locations including Hawaii from 1962 to 1964, and later continued his service in the Army Reserves from 1966 to 1967. Following his military service, Jim worked for more than 30 years in the shipping department at the former Paris Neckwear in Walnutport, before eventually retiring. Jim was a saved and faithful man and a devoted member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Lehighton.
Jim will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Rita L. (Kern) Ruch of Kunkletown, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by nine siblings. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 1349 Green St, Lehighton, PA 18235. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service from 10- 11 AM in the church. Burial will follow services at Fairview Cemetery in Slatington. Donations may be made in Jim’s memory to Lighthouse Baptist Church and mailed to the above address. Harding Funeral Home in Slatington is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
