Janice Altrichter

Janice M. (Seifrit) Altrichter, 78, of Slatington passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Tuesday evening, August 31, 2021. A celebration of Janice’s life will be held at Friedens United Church of Christ in Slatington PA on Friday, September 10th at 12:00 pm with family visitation an hour prior to the service.

Born in Lebanon, PA she was the daughter of the late James M. and Dorothy M. (Mease) Seifrit.  After graduating from Wilson High School in 1961, Janice worked in accounting and real estate.  Upon graduating Summa cum Laude at Cedar Crest College in 1993, she transitioned to human resources with positions at Day-Timers and Cedarbrook Nursing Home, before retiring in 2008.

Janice was always active in her community.  She was a member of the church council of Friedens UCC.  She also served as Sunday School Teacher at Bern UCC, president of the Northern Lehigh PTA, member of the Indianland Garden Club, the Red Hat Society, and many more.  Upon retirement she worked extensively with the Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley, who recently presented her with a “Most Amazing Volunteer” award.

Janice was married to David D. Altrichter for 57 years.  In addition to her husband David, she is survived by a son: James O. and wife Carol (Sugar) of Newark, DE; grandchildren: Emma and Brian; brothers: James Seifrit, Jr., Robert Seifrit and wife Jodi (Highley) of Fritztown, PA; sister: Rosemary (Seifrit) and husband Ronald Koch of Murrells Inlet, SC.
