Janice M. Brown

Janice M. Brown, 79, of Palmerton, formerly of Slatington, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 7, 2026, at Forest Hills Nursing Center, Weatherly.  She was the wife of James A. Brown, Sr., whom she married on April 20, 1963. Born in Allentown on March 23, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Mary (Holtzer) Kern.  The majority of her years, Janice spent at home, caring for her family. She did work for various local mills, including Janie’s Fashions in Slatington.  She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Palmerton and the Slatington Hose Co. #1.

In addition to her husband James, she is survived by her children, Tina Brogan of Slatington, Darlene Jones of Palmerton, Karen Snyder of Scranton, Carla wife of Terry Hunsicker of Palmerton, James A. Brown, Jr. and wife Caroline of Palmerton, Eric Brown of Palmerton; grandchildren; Jeffrey & Tim Jones, Michael & Shawn Brogan, David Hunsicker, Stacy, Brittany & Sean Snyder; 16 great-grandchildren; siblings, Edward, Bruce & David Kern. She was predeceased by siblings, Pamela Dankanich, Richard Kern, Carol Diehl, and Wayne Kern.

A funeral service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. 2nd Street, Slatington. Family and friends may pay their respects from 10 to 11AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Janice’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, c/o the funeral home.
