Joan P. Dorward

Joan P. Dorward, 86, formerly of Schnecksville, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg Campus.   She was the wife of the late Richard Dorward who passed away in 2014.  Born in Whitehall on March 1, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Sophie (Smith) Reid.  Joan was a Kindergarten teacher for the Northern Lehigh School District for many years before retiring in 1993.   She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Whitehall, where she helped with the church newsletter.   Joan also volunteered at both Lehigh Valley Muhlenberg and Sacred Heart Hospitals.
Joan is survived by brothers: Daniel Reid and wife Marilyn of Whitehall, James Reid of GA; sisters: Elaine Schlier of Catasauqua, Karen and husband Lonnie Gillespie of Whitehall, and Denise and husband John Manouelian of MD; Stepdaughters: Gail Weaver of New Ringgold and Laura Dorward of Allentown; 2 Step-Grandchildren, and nieces & nephews.
Private family services will be held.  No calling hours.   Arrangements are being handled by Harding Funeral Home, Slatington.  In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 835 3rd Street, Whitehall PA, 18052
