John Babyak

John Babyak, 90, of Slatington, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2018 at the Lehigh Valley Hospital Hospice Unit.  He was the husband of Josephine (Siverski) Babyak, to whom he was married to for 67 years.  Born on February 5, 1928, in Slatington, he was the son of the late Stephen and Mary (Papay) Babyak.  John was past president of Penn Big Bed Slate Company where he worked for over 50 years.   He was also a director at Structural Slate Company in Penn Argyl.  He was stationed in Japan while serving in the US Army from 1945-1946.  John was a member of Assumption BVM Church in Slatington, member of the Slatington Skeet Club, Slatington Lions Club, American Legion Post 16, Palmerton Hungarian Club, and the Vigilant Fire Co, Slatington.   John lived his whole life for his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters: Teresa wife of Dennis Kistler, Celeste wife of Ralph Williams both of Slatington; Grandchildren: Jason Williams and wife Shea, Jessica wife of Andrew Mack; Great Granddaughters: Madelynn and Samantha Mack, Rebecca and Aria Williams; Brother: Thomas Babyak and wife Susie, Richard Babyak; Sisters: Mary Duyka, Margaret Babyak, and Veronica wife of Ronald Scheffler.  He was predeceased by a brother Stephen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, December 7, 2018 at Assumption BVM Church, 649 W. Washington Street, Slatington.  A Calling hour will be held from 10 to 11 A.M. at the church.   Interment to follow at the parish cemetery.   Arrangements are being handled by Harding Funeral Home, Slatington.  Contributions in John’s name may be made to Assumption BVM Memorial Fund.
