Jon W. Rinker, 71, of Slatington, passed away Monday, August 31, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Lehighton.  He was the husband of Deborah S. (Metzger) Rinker, whom he married May 31, 1997.  Born in Palmerton on March 16, 1955, he was the son of the late William and June (Frantz) Rinker. Most recently, Jon worked as a bus aid for CLIU, Walnutport.  Prior to that, he worked for Prax Air in Bethlehem, as a delivery driver. An active member of the Slatington community, Jon was a life member and former president of Hose Co. #1, life member of the Vigilant Fire Co #2.  He was a 25-year active fire fighter and former deputy fire chief for the Slatington Volunteer Fire Department.  Jon was a past president and football director of the NLYAA, former cub master for Troop 66, member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post 16 and was member of the Fireman’s Stature Restoration.  Jon was currently serving as the Tax Collector for the borough of Slatington since 2022. He also owned various local businesses in Slatington, including Rinker’s BBQ Pit, and Rinker’s mobile steak shop.

In addition to his wife Deborah, he is survived by his children, Jonell wife of David Kuremsky, Jon Rinker Jr. and fiancé Katie, Jeremy Rinker, Jason Laub and wife Arceli, James Laub and fiancé Hope, Amanda wife of Jeffrey Heintzelman, Sarah Diehl; 17 grandchildren.

A celebration of Jon’s life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Harding Funeral Home, Slatington.
