Jose A. Rodriguez

Jose A. Rodriguez, 84, of Walnutport, passed away Monday, March 16, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. He was the husband of Arlene K. (Szabo) Rodriguez, whom he was married to for 60 years. They were married on June 5, 1965. Born in Salinas, Puerto Rico on July 5, 1941, he was one of eight children born to the late Joaquin and Maria (Rodriguez) Rodriguez. Jose began his career working for the former Bethlehem Steel. He retired from Lehigh County Prison, where he worked as a Corrections Officer. An avid golfer, Jose worked for Iron Lakes / Twin Lakes in retirement, as both a grounds crew member and a driving range attendant. He also enjoyed being out in nature, hunting and fishing, but most especially loved camping with his family.

In addition to his wife Arlene, he will be lovingly remembered by his son, Daniel M. Rodriguez and wife Sarah of Walnutport; daughter, Paula A. Rodriguez of North Las Vegas; daughter-in-law, Tammy Rodriguez Kalil; niece whom they raised; Rebecca and husband Eric Silfies of Nazareth; 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, 1 brother. He was pre-deceased by a son, Thomas Rodriguez, a granddaughter, 2 sisters, 2 brothers.

A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. 2nd Street, Slatington. Family and friends may pay their respects from 10 to 11AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jose’s name are suggested to American Legion Charities, mylegion.org.
