Louis Knappenberger

Louis F. Knappenberger, 82, of Walnutport, passed away November 27th, 2014 in his home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Annette (Beers) Knappenberger. They celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary this year. Born in Treichlers, he was the son of the late Albert and Rachel (Hoffman) Knappenberger. He proudly served his country in the US Army. Louis worked for the New Jersey Central railroad, Makovsky brothers, Bethlehem steel, Matlack in Northampton for 23 years, and Pipeline Petroleum for 21 years. He was a member of V.F.W. post 7293 of Egypt, American Legion post 899 of Lehigh Twp, and Roosevelt Democratic Club of Danielsville. Louis was a member of Hope Lutheran church, Cherryville.
Survivors: Wife, daughters, Melonie Buzzard of Allentown, Lisa and husband Jay Heberling of Slatington, Lori and husband Tom Smith of Palmerton, son Scott and wife Marcy Knappenberger of Walnutport; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Martha Woodring, June Kinek, Loretta Herrity, nieces and nephews, favorite pets – Patches and Blackie. Louis was predeceased by a great-grandson, Nolan Ritchie and brothers, Warren, Stanley and Percy Knappenberger.
Services: 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 2, at Hope Lutheran Church, 4131 Lehigh Dr., Cherryville. Calling 10-11:30 a.m. in the church. Arrangements by Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. 2nd St., Slatington.
