Mary E. Kester, 79 of Walnutport died Wednesday August 17, 2016 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg. She was the wife of Bruce Kester of Walnutport. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late John and Catherine M. (Skripek) Polaha. Mary was a graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School, Class of 1955. She worked for the former Bee Inc, Autoparts of Allentown, and also for Bell Telephone. Mary was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Berlinsville, the First Catholic Ladies Slovak Union, and a member of the Fearless Fire Co., Auxiliary in Allentown.
Survivors: Husband, Sons; Gregory Kester and wife Janice of Walnutport, Brian Kester and wife Bridget of Danielsville, Douglas Kester of York, Bill Kester and wife Lynn of Atlanta, GA. Daughter; Catherine and husband Brian Akelaitis of New Tripoli. Grandchildren; Peter, Elizabeth, Sarah, Olivia, Julia, Jack-Attack, Whit, Emily, Anna, & Izzy. Sisters; Annamae and husband Gallus Wukitsch, Catherine Hersh, Bernadine Baker. Sister-in-law; Regina Polaha. She was predeceased by brothers Jack & Bernard Polaha.
Services: Mass of Christian Burial 11am Monday August 22, 2016, St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 1152 Oak Rd, Walnutport. Calling hour 6-8pm Sunday August 21, Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second St, Slatington. And 10-11am Monday at the church. Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Slatington. Fellowship to follow at the Walnutport Canal Pavilion.
