Merritt P. Anthony, 87, of Walnutport, passed away Sunday, October 3, 2010, in Lehigh Valley Hospital Center, Cedar Crest. Born in Treichlers, he was the son of the late Horace & Olivia (Heckman) Anthony. He worked as a diesel mechanic for Arrow Carrier for 40 years, retiring in 1982. He was a life member of the American Legion and the Diamond Fire Co. Merritt was a World War II veteran of the Navy Seabees, serving in the Central Pacific Theater of Operations.

Survivors: His wife, Ruth, daughters, Janice & husband Ed Klucsarits of Schnecksville, Susan & husband Brian Umstead of Palmerton, Linda Chruscz and her companion Charles Naumowicz of Slatington, Patricia & her husband Neal Hanson of Nazareth, sons, John Anthony of Florence, SC., Gregory Anthony & his companion Lori Begley of Walnutport, grandchildren, Tabitha Chruscz, Melissa Anthony, Sarah Hanson & Jennifer Hunsicker, great grandchildren, Makenzie & Johnathan Hunsicker. He was predeceased by his sister, Irene Vogel Fredo and a brother, William F. Anthony.

Services: Private, at the convenience of the family. Arrangements, Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second St., Slatington.
