Muriel Hughes, 95 formerly of Slatington, passed away Tuesday August 22, 2017 at Fellowship Manor, Whitehall. She was the wife of the late Delphin F. Hughes, who passed away in 1994. They were married for 52 years.
Born in Slatington, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Anna (Williams) Roberts. Muriel worked as a sewing machine operator for the former Halsen Manufacturing and Seiler’s Mill. She also worked as a secretary for the Trojan Powder Co. She was a member of Neff’s Union U.C.C., Slatington Senior Citizens, and the American Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary. A faithful former member of Trinity E.C. Church, Slatington, where she served as a Sunday school teacher for 22 years and was treasurer of the Ladies’ Aid Society. Muriel’s legacy is her family, which she enjoyed greatly. Particularly those special times spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors- Daughters: Carol and husband Terry Feinour of Dover, De, Martha Bloss of Slatington, Son: Robert Hughes and wife Kim of Slatington, Grandchildren: Mark, Amy, Abby, Courtney, Ashley and Rob, Great Grandchildren: Connor, Riley, Lucas, Chase, Chesney, Owen and Cole, Sisters: Betty Diehl and Faye Hoanzl, “Adopted” daughter: Sherry Yesik.
Services: 11 A.M. Saturday August 26, 2017 Neffs Union U.C.C., 5550 PA Rt 873 Neffs. Calling hour 10 to 11 A.M. at the church. Interment to follow at Union Cemetery, Slatington. Arrangements are being handled by Harding Funeral Home, Slatington.
