Patricia A. Sommer

Patricia A. Sommer, 88, of Lehighton, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2025 in Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest. She and her husband, Stephen M. Sommer, Jr., shared 70 years of loving marriage.

Born in Krocksville, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Lurean (Wright) Heckman. Patricia was a sewing machine operator for Cross Country Clothes in Egypt until its closing. She proudly received her GED with her sisters at the age of 60! Patricia was a former member of St. John the Baptist Church in Whitehall. She enjoyed various hobbies, including travel, building puzzles and baking. Known as Gram-Gram to many who knew her, Patricia cherished her time caring for her family and grandchildren.

Survivors: Her husband, Steve; daughters, Debra Parry and her husband Glenn of Selbyville, DE and Donna Sommer Ellis and her husband Mark of Alburtis; 4 grandchildren, Jessica Kern (Ryan), Joshua Parry (Dawn), Emily Ellis and Reed Ellis; 5 great-grandchildren, Ariel, Leyla, Zoey, Jocelyn and Taylor; 2 great-great-grandchildren, Mayson and Kinsley; sisters, Faith Lackner and Rosemarie Lackner.

Patricia was also preceded in death by 8 siblings – Henry, Charmaine, Robert, Richard, Dorothea, Lillie, Shirley and Linda.

Services: A celebration of life will be held privately by Patricia’s family. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harding Funeral Home, Inc. of Slatington.
