The Revered Joseph L. Grembocki , pastor, Assumption B.V.M Church, Slatington, PA died on Monday 11 July 2016 at his parish, at the age of 72. Born in Coaldale, Father Grembocki was the son of the late Joseph and Agnes (Zaba) Grembocki. He is preceded in death by his brother, Chester. There are no immediate family member survivors. Father Grembocki attended Saints Peter and Paul School, Lansford, and is a graduate of Lansford High School, Lansford. He attended Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary, Overbrook, where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy and a Master of Divinity Degree. He was ordained to the Priesthood on 27 March 1971 by the Most Reverend Joseph McShea, then-Bishop of Allentown. Father Grembocki’s first priestly assignment was Parochial Vicar at Saint Catherine of Siena Church, Reading, followed by Parochial Vicar, Saint John the Baptist Church, Shillington; Parochial Vicar, Saint Paul Church, Allentown; and Administrator, the former Saint Kuenegunda Church, McAdoo. His first pastoral assignment was at the former Saint Kunegunda Church, McAdoo. Father Grembocki was then named Pastor of Assumption B.V.M. Church, Slatington, where he served as Pastor until his death.
Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Assumption B.V.M Church, 633 W. Washington Street, Slatington on Friday 15 July 2016 at 11:00AM by His Excellency, The Most Reverend John O. Barres, D.D., Bishop of Allentown. The Homilist will be the Reverend James C. Bechtel, Pastror Emeritus, Saint Jerome Church, Tamaqua. Main Celebrants will be the Reverend Monsignor Alfred A. Schlert, Vicar General, and Reverend James C. Bechtel. Calling hours will be held on Thursday 14 July 2016 in Assumption B.V.M, Church from 6;00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, 15 July 2016 before Mass from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A vigil service will be held at the church on Thursday, 14 July 2016 at 7:30 PM. The Reverend Monsignor Daniel J. Yenushosky, Pastor Holy Trinity Church, Whitehall, and Dean of Lehigh Deanery, will preside. The Homilist will be the Reverend Monsignor Thomas A. Derzack, Pastor, Saint Nicholas Church, Walnutport. Interment will take place in parish cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Harding Funeral Home, Slatington.
