Richard A. Handwerk

May 14, 1966 — January 1, 2026

Richard A. Handwerk, 59, of Slatington, passed away peacefully in his home on January 1, 2026, after a long battle with MS. He was born in Palmerton on May 14, 1966. He is survived by his mother, Barbara, wife of Barry A. Eckhart, of Slatington; father, Walter Handwerk, husband of Mary Alice, of Port Charlotte, FL; son, Carl A. Handwerk and wife, Kenda, of Bangor; and his precious grandchildren, Kolten and Paizley, whom he loved with all of his heart.

Richard graduated from Northern Lehigh High School and furthered his education at LTI in the electronics field. He was a supervisor at the former Paris Accessories in Walnutport until its closure. Prior to his illness, he was employed by several companies in the Lehigh Valley, including Agere Systems, Canns-Bilco Distributors, and Wegmans Distribution.

Richard enjoyed fishing, coaching Little League baseball, and, foremost, spending time with his grandchildren, Kolten and Paizley, known to them as “Pop Pop.” He loved smiling and joking around, always sharing jokes that he’s seen or heard.

At the family’s request, a private service will be provided by the Harding Funeral Home in Slatington.
