Richard J. Neustadter

Richard J. Neustadter, 93, formerly of Walnutport, passed away at Complete Care, Macungie on Monday, August 24, 2026. He was the husband of Marian (Rex) Neustadter, who passed away in 2014. Born in Walnutport, he was the son of the late Conrad and Ann Jane (Williams) Neustadter. Richard worked as a turbo fan operator for Bethlehem Steel for many years. He also was employed part time for various locations of the PA State Liquor Store. Following his retirement from Bethlehem Steel, he worked for Thomson’s Meat Market, Walnutport as a deli clerk. Richard was a life member of the Star Hose Co #1. He was a die-hard Eagles and Iron Pig fan.

Richard is survived by his children, Brian R. Neustadter and wife Joan of Reading, David O. Neustadter and wife Dawn of Walnutport, Suzanne C. wife of Mark Parmer of Topton, Marianne L. wife of Donald Prince of Whitehall; daughter-in-law, Rita Neustadter; 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, James C. Neustadter, brother, Donald Neustadter, and stepbrothers, Charles and Oliver Shoemaker.

A memorial service will be held at 12noon on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. 2nd Street, Slatington. Family and friends may pay their respects from 11am to 12noon. Interment to follow at Union Cemetery, Slatington. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Richard’s memory are suggested to either Christ UCC, Walnutport, the American Heart Association or the Diabetes Foundation, all c/o the funeral home
