Robert W. Deibert

Robert W. Deibert, Sr., 83, of Slatington, passed away on Thursday. September 10, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospital- Muhlenberg.  He was the beloved husband of Betty Jean (Markell) Deibert, of Slatington, for 63 years, celebrating their anniversary on August 17th.  Born on March 21, 1943, he was the son of the late Harry F. and Dorothy M. (Lawrence) Deibert.

Robert was a 1961 graduate of Northampton Area School District.  He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a sergeant from 1961 to 1968 during the Vietnam War. Following his military service,  Robert spent his working career as an HVAC technician. He worked at companies including Lehigh Engineering and, most recently, H.T. Lyons for many years before his retirement.  He was also a member of Living Hope Lighthouse Church in Palmerton.

Robert was a man of many talents and interests.  He enjoyed sharing his love of music by playing guitar for the residents of Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  He was also a member of the Model Plane Club and served as a shooting instructor at the Slatington Skeet Club. In his spare time, Robert enjoyed building model trains and was a talented woodworker who took great pride in creating furniture and cabinetry.  Above all, Robert loved spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing and loving him.

In addition to his devoted wife, Betty, he will be lovingly remembered by his children, Robert W. Deibert, Jr. of Slatington, Kimberly S. Deibert of Palmerton, Lori A. Cebrosky and fiancé Robert Pomery of Enola, and Jennifer M. Lye of TN; grandchildren, Ryan and Heather Cebrosky, Joshua and Jacob Deibert, Nathan and Anna Lye, and Jonathan Deibert; great-grandchildren, Riley and Evelyn Cebrosky, Isabel Brown, and Arabella and Bryleigh Deibert; siblings, Richard and Harry Deibert, and Cheryl McKittrick.

A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, 60 Indiantown Gap Road, Annville, PA 17003, with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Robert’s memory may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
