Ronald M. Scheffler

Ronald M. Scheffler, 78, of Slatington, passed away suddenly in his home on Friday, May 1, 2026. He was the husband of Veronica M. (Babyak) Scheffler, whom he married on May 14, 2005. Born in Emerald on June 21, 1947, he was the son of the late Thomas and Marie (Roth) Scheffler. Ron was a graduate of Slatington HS, Class of 1965. He then continued his education and received a BA from Mansfield University. Following his college years, Ron served in the US Army during the Vietnam War while stationed in Alaska. Ron spent his career working in sales, working first for the Bethlehem Steel, the Glen-Gery Brick Co., and finally for Butter Krust Bakery. Ron was a faithful parishioner of Assumption BVM Catholic Church, Slatington, where he enjoyed sharing his musical talents prior to Mass. He was a member of the American Legion Post 16, served as former Commander, and was active within the post in various capacities. Ron was also a member of the Rajah Temple Band, and member of the Slatington Masonic Lodge 440 F &AM.

In addition to his wife Veronica, he is survived by stepsons, Richard T. Gabovitz and wife Beth of Walnutport, Stephen Gabovitz of Slatington, Michael Gabovitz and wife Jennifer Murphy Gabovitz of Walnutport; granddaughter, Kirsten Gabovitz; step-grandsons, Jason & Christopher Ritche; 4 step-great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Assumption BVM Catholic Church, 649 W. Washington Street, Slatington. Family and friends may pay their respects from 10 to 11AM. Interment with military honors will follow at Union Cemetery, Slatington. In leu of flowers, contributions in Ron’s memory can be made to the church memorial fund. Harding Funeral Home is honored to handle Ron’s arrangements.
