Sarah Bachman

Sarah A. Bachman, mother, grandmother, and sister, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 22, 2012. Sarah was 85 years old and passed away in her home surrounded by her loving family and friends. Sarah grew up in a family of 15 brothers and sisters on a family farm in Aquashicola, Pennslvania. Sarah's parents were the late Samuel and Elizabeth (Kuntzman) Silliman. In 1953 Sarah married Norman Coffin of Walnutport. While married to Norman, Sarah worked outside the home in local sewing factories. Sarah and Norman were married until 1967 when Norman was taken from this life by a car accident. In 1971, Sarah married Nathan R. Bachman of Slatedale and returned to the farming life she enjoyed as a young girl. Sarah was married to Nathan until 1988 when he passed away at home. After Nathan's passing Sarah continued minor farming activities, also helping other farmers, and became the cleaning lady of the Slatedale Lutheran Church. In October 2005, Sarah left the farm and moved into the George Dilliard Manor high-rise apartments in Slatington, PA and enjoyed the rest of her years sharing many laughs and fun times with her high-rise family. Survivors: Son, Jeffrey N. Coffin and his wife Linda; son, Timothy S. Coffin, all of Slatington; daughter, Marie E. Bachman and partner, Deborah J. O'Brien and grandson Brody of Northampton; Grandchildren, Dr. Jennifer M. Dodd and her husband Joshua of Coopersburg and great-grandaughter Abigail; Julie L. Solt and her husband Todd of Lehighton and great grandchildren Dylan, Aiden, and Connor; Sister Mary Stroup of Palmerton; a brother, Charles Silliman and wife Florence of Aquashicola; Many nieces and nephews. Services: Services 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2012, Good Shepherd UCC Church, 3940 Mountain Road, Slatington, PA. Calling hours will be from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2012 and 12:00 to 1:00 Thursday, December 27, 2012, all at the church. Interment to follow at Union Cemetery, Slatington, PA.
