Simon C. Bandzi, 69 of Walnutport died Tuesday January 24, 2017 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg Campus, surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving husband of Karen L. (Mack) Bandzi. They were married for 17 years last October. Born in Slatington on December 1, 1947, he was the son of the late Simon C. Sr. and Veronica (Papay) Bandzi. He faithfully and honorably served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked at the Bethlehem Steel and Slatington Fabricator’s. He enjoyed going to Calabogie, Ontario Canada fishing every year with family and friends. He was a member of Assumption BVM Catholic Church, Slatington. Simon was a life member of the VFW Post 7215, Walnutport, Slatington Legion Post 16, the Slatington Skeet Club and the AMVETS, Chapter 296, Tobyhanna. He was also a Social Member of Egypt VFW Post 7293, Oplinger Hower Post 899, and Blue Ridge Gum Club, Walnutport.
Survivors: In addition to his loving wife, son; Shaun, husband of Mary Beth of Lancaster. Grandchildren; Maddison and Logan Bandzi. Brother; Stephen (Dona) Bandzi, Sister; Maria(Donald) Kichline. Many Nieces & Nephews. He was pre-deceased by his sister Veronica Lehman.
Services: Mass of Christian Burial 11am Monday January 30, 2017 Assumption BVM, 649 W. Washington St, Slatington. Calling hour 10-11am at the church. Graveside with Military Honors 11am Tuesday Jan 31, Assumption BVM Cemetery, 7th St, Slatington. Arrangements are being handled by Harding Funeral Home, Slatington.
