Thomas Burrell

Tom Burrell, husband, father, grandfather, brother, of Slatington, Pennsylvania passed suddenly on Monday, November 5th, 2018.   Born in Coaldale on February 5, 1961, he was the son of the late David and Margaret (Libensberger) Burrell.  As a graduate from Tamaqua High school, Lincoln Tech and LCCC, Tom worked for Western Electric, AT&T, and Agere for over 25 years.    Most recently, he continued his career as a robotics technician & supervisor for over 10 years with II-VI OptoElectronic Devices in Warren, NJ.  He was taken too quickly from us, but leaves us with the echoes of his laughter and giant hugs. Tom possessed incredible patience, a passion for understanding how things worked and a kindness that touched most that walked through the door of his home.  Lover of many things: electronics, mechanics, music, computers, movies, the beach, fire arms, tools, dogs, a roaring fire, blue blounders, thorough and detailed explanations, and the UPS man. Most importantly, Tom loved and took pride in his family.  He passed quickly with good friends in a place he loved.
He left behind his high school sweetheart and wife of 38 years, Marie, as well as his three children Jeremy and his wife Laura who live in New York, Stephanie and her husband Todd Reeve of Pennsylvania and Kory Burrell, also living in New York. Tom leaves his two granddaughters, Mayara and Liviana as well as a long list of future plans and things that we all need his help to fix. Tom is also survived by his brother David, two sisters, Patti & Deborah, his stepfather, Buddy, as well as several nieces, nephews and loving family in California.
The family welcomes visitors and loved ones to stop by in celebration of Tom’s life and share their fondest story of Tom Burrell on Friday, November 9th between 5 pm – 8 pm at the Burrell home. In accordance with Tom’s wishes, the family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, anyone can make a memorial donation to the Tom Burrell Memorial Fund through www.gofundme.com (search Tom Burrell Memorial Fund on this site or type this link into any search engine https://bit.ly/2zBedLJ) for the education of his granddaughters.   Arrangements are under the care of the Harding Funeral Home, Slatington.
