Walter Miller

Walter J. “Pop” Miller, 91 of Slatington died Tuesday September 8, 2015 at Geisinger Medical Center – Wyoming Valley, PA. He was the husband of the late Mary E. (Grammes) Miller, who died in 1999. Born in East Allen Twsp, he was the son of Wralston and Irene (Hoffman) Miller. He was a US Army veteran, serving in WWII, and was the recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Walter worked for the former Bethlehem Steel as a mold finisher until retiring in 1986. He was also the owner/operator of Mom Miller’s Dairy Trailer. Walter was a member of the Slatington Moose, the American Legion Post 16 Slatington, a life member of the VFW Walnutport, a life member of Emerald Fire Co, and the Slatington Skeet Club. He also coached Emerald little league baseball teams.
Survivors: Son; Jeffrey Miller Sr. of Slatington. Grandchildren; Jeffrey Miller, Jr. of Trevorton, Jenifer Snyder of Slatington, and Christopher Miller of Allentown. Great Grandchildren; Stephanie Stein, Joel Snyder III, and Hope Rine. Foster children; Bonnie & Janice Hunsicker. Nieces & Nephews. He was pre-deceased by a daughter Bettylou and son Walter Miller, Jr. He was the last survivor of 8 Miller children.
Services: 11am Wednesday September 16, 2015 Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second Street, Slatington. Calling hour 6-8pm Tuesday Sept 15, and 10-11am Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment to follow with Military honors at Union Cemetery, Slatington.
Contributions: In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the funeral home to help defray funeral costs.
