Warren J. Reitz, Jr.

Warren J. “Boise” Reitz, Jr.,74, of Slatington, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Inpatient Hospice Unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown.  He was the loving husband of Marie E. (Krum) Reitz for 28 years.

Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Warren J., Sr., and Ruth (Holtzer) Reitz. Boise graduated from Slatington High School and spent 27 years working at the former Schaffer/Stroh’s Brewery in Fogelsville until its closure. He then joined his son-in-law, Greg, working in construction at Greg’s business, Rex Homes, Inc. Over the years, Boise also held a janitorial position at KidsPeace, worked as a forklift operator at Palram in New Smithville, and was employed at Ampal in Palmerton.

Boise was a proud U.S. Navy veteran honorably serving from 1969-1973 during the Vietnam War. Boise attended St. John’s Lutheran Church in Slatington and served as a board member of the Slatedale Cemetery Association, where he also worked as a part-time caretaker. He also loved spending time on the golf course and was especially proud to have not just once but twice recorded a hole-in-one!! Above all, Boise was a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather, brother, and a dear friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his loving wife, Marie, Boise will be lovingly remembered by daughters, Ronda, wife of Sam Schiavone of Clarks Summit and Amy, wife of Matt Miller of Sparta, NJ; step-daughter, Sharon, wife of Greg Miller of Slatington; five grandchildren, Sal, Santo, and Silvio Schiavone, and Nathan and Evan Miller; and step-grandchild, Ashley, wife of Bill Nagy. He is also survived by brother, Blaine Reitz and wife, Marilyn of Slatington. He was predeceased by his sisters, Donna Casey and Susan Davis.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 North Second Street, Slatington, PA 18080. Visitation will take place at the funeral home one hour prior, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Slatedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Boise’s name to Good Shepherd UCC, 3940 Mountain Rd, Slatington PA, 18080 or Forgotten Felines & Fidos, 6022 Mountain Rd, Germansville, PA 18053.
