Barry Rice

Barry A. “Bill” Rice, 72, of Slatington, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest.  He was the husband of Marilyn L. (Markell) Rice, whom he married on August 19, 1972.  Born in Slatington on May 5, 1949, he was the son of the late Clarence and Norene (Walters) Rice.   Bill was first employed at the former National School Slate, then Stanwood Mills, Slatington.   He then worked for and retired from Silliman Salvage Yard, Slatington.   Following his retirement, he worked part time for Collis Truck Parts, of Northampton.   He was a member of Good Shepherd UCC, Slatington as well as the Emerald Fire Co, Heidelberg Game & Protective Assoc, and the Grundsau Lodge, Number 18.
In addition to his wife Marilyn, he is survived by a son: Barry A. Rice, Jr., and wife Ann of Slatington; Grandchildren: Drew Rice and wife Kara of Whitehall, Tanner Rice of Slatington, Jade Rice of Schnecksville; Great-Grandchildren: Bryson, Braxton, and baby Barrett on the way; 2 step-grandchildren: Emily & Lindsey; brothers: Terry Rice and companion Phyllis, Keith Rice and wife Diane; sisters: Ellen Rice, Linda Neff and companion Paul Bachman, Susan and husband Woody Wotring, sandy and husband Tom Schleicher, Barbara and husband Jim Sensinger, Betty Hock; beloved dog: Laci.  He was predeceased by siblings, Kenny, Ricky and Donna Rice.
A funeral service will be held at 7:30 PM on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second Street, Slatington PA 18080.  Family and friends may visit with the family from 6 to 7:30 PM.   In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.
